Prizewinning cartoons and press photographs are now entering a museum in Bonn (former capital of West Germany). “Haus der Geschichte der Bundesrepublik Deutschland” (House of History of the Federal Republic of Germany) is presenting the exhibition “Rückblende 2008″ initiated by the Landesvertretung Rheinland-Pfalz (state Rhineland-Palatinate) and the BDZV – Bundesverband Deutscher Zeitungsverleger ((German newspapers publisher’s association).

Best editorial cartoons and press photographs of the year 2008? 2008: Again a year to say good bye to good old days (as once 2001 after 9/11)! After a fine summer, the world tumbled into a historical disaster of crashing banks and financial systems – together with all hopes for a rising star: Barack Obama. The world on the brink and in radical change: divine times for cartoonists!

Rückblende 2008: Germany’s best cartoons and photographs published in newspapers have now been awarded with overall prizes of more than 25,000 Euro. The contest is organised by the Landesvertretung Rheinland-Pfalz (state Rhineland-Palatinate) every year in Coorperation with the Bundesverband der Deutschen Zeitungsverleger (German newspapers publisher’s association) and supported by sponsors like Der Spiegel, Leica, Pelikan and others.
