A couple of days ago, the gentleman in the picture approached us and asked if it was possible to have his portrait drawn by toonpool.com artists. So, here’s the deal:

If you would like to participate, post your caricatures until April 15, 2011. Simply upload them to toonpool.com as you would do with your other works but be sure to add the tag “portraitpitch”. We will post all contributions in our blog.

There are no restrictions to color, style, or technique. Portraits can be realistic, cartoon-y, colorful, black-and-white, vectorized, crudely hand-drawn, etc..

Our client will buy the picture he likes best for 300 Euros (all of which will go to the artist). If you have any further questions, please contact us.

WE LIKE TO ANNOUNCE A NEW CONTEST. We are searching for the best artworks about:
• Facebook (cartoon) or
• Mark Zuckerberg, head of Facebook (caricature)

…or both combined. What are our funny thoughts of Mark’s childhood and parents? What did he do in school in former times, and who had been his classmates and friends? Will whole earth’s population be registered on facebook soon? What will follow? What about business, will Mark buy and own the world one day? And what will he be more: Big Brother or God? Which jokey accidents and misfortunes could happen to facebook and Mark? And most important: Who will be Mark’s wife-to-be???

Currywurst – Cartoon Contest

toonpool.com is looking for the most funny, witty and beautiful ‘CURRYWURST CARTOON’! You can also draw an illustration! Beautiful implies: positive – for the keen fans of this dish! Berlin may also play a role (but doesn’t have to).

Reason for our contest is the foundation of the “GERMAN CURRYWURST MUSEUM” which will be opened on August 28th, 2009 – and the 60th anniversary of the day when the currywurst was invented on September 4th, 1949 in Berlin. The museum is located near famous Checkpoint Charlie with thousands of tourists visting this area every day.

The GERMAN CURRYWURST MUSEUM promises its visitors exciting scenes and a glimpse of history – combined with information about recipes, ingredients and origin. The stage is set for the most diverse aspects of the popular Currywurst, of which around 800 million portions are consumed in Germany every year. As an urban snack with a cult following, the “curried fried sausage” has many friends and fans who have a word to say about it in the exhibition’s photo and audio documents.

Starting this summer, the GERMAN CURRYWURST MUSEUM will welcome locals and visitors to Berlin under the address Schützenstrasse 70. The multi-media monument to Germany’s traditional snack creation is located in direct proximity to Checkpoint Charlie. The representative exhibition covers an area of 1.100 square metres including catering and shop.

Best entries of our contest will be presented in the museum (and maybe on t-shirts or postcards).

Alternative recipe from David Baldinger‘s kitchen in Greensburg/USA, a typical American way of food pleasure! Many thanks David!!!

David: I’ve never had currywurst. It looks disgusting enough that I would probably like it. My favorite is to cook sausage in sauerkraut. I brown the sausage heavily so the sauerkraut will pick up the flavor. I like to cook it until the sauerkraut starts turning brown. Generally, I prefer to use Gundelsheim Barrel Sauerkraut and beer bratwurst. I don’t add anything else. God, I love Gundelsheim pickles! I have to stop thinking about all of this! I am starting to go crazy!

Election year 2009. Politicians from the cartoonists point of view

Election year 2009 – political handling needs a breezy stroke: In cooperation with www.toonpool.com, stern.de is looking for the greatest political cartoon / caricature. Next to glory and fame some great prizes up for grabs.

Who draws the most beautiful Franz-Walter-Steinmeier, the strongest Angela Merkel?

In this Election Year stern.de is searching for the best political cartoon / caricature in cooperation with the worldwide biggest Cartoon plattform www.toonpool.com. It doesn´t matter, if it´s a portrait, scenic motives or slapstick – hobby artist, professional artist, young cartoonist talents are all called to join this contest.

You can start to submit your work from June 22nd. Entry deadline is August the 14th 2009.

To do this you, you go to www.toonpool.com and just upload you work.

From all submissions a Jury will make a preselection. Members of the Jury are Bernd Pohlenz (co-founder of toonpool.com), Tobias Schülert ( Editor of Humour of stern.de). The preselection will be viewable on stern.de, toonpool.com and on Berlins underground television. The final winner will be selected by the stern.de users.
