See more: http://www.toonpool.com/tag_gallery_bookstore
Deadline of the competition is November 30th, 2012.
The staff of a bookstore has asked us if it was possible to have the five persons’ portraits drawn by toonpool.com artists – as five single portraits or all persons in one image. So, here’s the deal:
If you would like to participate, post your caricatures until November 30, 2012. Simply upload them to toonpool.com as you would do with your other works but be sure to add the tag “bookstore”. We will post all contributions in our blog.
There are no restrictions to color, style, or technique. Portraits can be realistic, cartoon-y, colorful, black-and-white, vectorized, crudely hand-drawn, etc..
Our clients will buy the three entries (full staff) they like best for 250 Euros, 150 Euros and 100 Euros (all of which will go to the artists). If you have any further questions, please contact us.
Any recourse to courts of law is excluded.
Peace and smiles!

]]>Eating Pizza & Pasta – the famous Italian Food
Pizza Quattro Stagioni or Tonno, Spaghetti Bolognese or Carbonara, Tiramisu, Olio di Oliva & Parmigiano – have you ever drawn scenes about enjoying Italian meals (archive)? Or are you inspired to join our contest with new funny ideas?
The agony of choice from a long menu card, handling spaghetti at a romantic candlelight date with a new lover (while listening kitschy Italian pop songs) or pizza as street food (while getting a call from your mobile) – we are looking for very witty and ironic (not disgusting!) scenes – cartoons as well as illustrations. What is a pizza? Has it geometric structures? Is is a science? A philosophy? A global vision of life? A religion?
We are planning an exhibition in case there are enough entries joining (and maybe a catalogue or book).

WE LIKE TO ANNOUNCE A NEW CONTEST. We are searching for the best artworks about:
• Facebook (cartoon) or
• Mark Zuckerberg, head of Facebook (caricature)
…or both combined. What are our funny thoughts of Mark’s childhood and parents? What did he do in school in former times, and who had been his classmates and friends? Will whole earth’s population be registered on facebook soon? What will follow? What about business, will Mark buy and own the world one day? And what will he be more: Big Brother or God? Which jokey accidents and misfortunes could happen to facebook and Mark? And most important: Who will be Mark’s wife-to-be???

]]>Though not winning a price but further admiration: these
following 3 cartoons out of the Easter Pitch 2010 collection.
Eggs Benedict by Hugh Jarse
easter 2010 B.C. by axinte
Easter Bunny by toons
Again, thanks to everyone for participating! Peace & Smiles
Your toonpool.com team.
About that Easter cartoon competition: Yes, there is a winner. We’re terribly busy right now, but there should be an announcement some time next week.
In other news, labor day (May 1st) has come and gone. As usual, there have been some riots in Berlin, but it wasn’t as bad as last year. Unfortunately most cartoons on the issue seem to be mediocre agitprop rather than actual cartoons. I liked this little illustration, this chronology and this German cartoon about traditions and new models of employment.
There is also a number of cartoons on the Louisiana oil spill and they are surprisingly inventive: (1,2,3,4).
Cartoons of Interest
This week, my favourite cartoon is “Mantis Dinner Date” by Sardonic Salad, a cartoon co-op from Omaha, Nebraska. It’s a classic praying mantis cartoon, if there’s such a thing. I like pretty much everything about it – from the simple, yet effective colors and lines to to both the girl-mantis’ and the boy-mantis’ facial expressions. In fact, this cartoon made me get my old Gary Larson anthologies from the shelf.
Please also note “A Day in the Life of a Cow” by Piero Tonin, which is very nicely drawn although it features a rather conservative bovine family concept. There’s also a somewhat weird cartoon aptly titled “Brain” by Ukranian artist Kazanevski. It’s either about an accountant’s return to nature or the importance of brain training.
Finally, I would like to point out a series of cartoons by Garrincha. They are about a character named Miss Corina Tedeschi. Some of them are a bit strange. As far as I can say now, Ms. Tedeschi frequently interacts with street performers (1,2,3) and she also seems to have made friends with two robot aliens (1,2).
