For this new issue of Letter from… column, we asked toonpool artist Marian Kamensky about his life and begged for some photographs of his working place and the city he lives in. Marian was born in Czechoslovakia, studied art in Germany and then moved to Austria.

The viennese bohemian, Marian Kamensky says he is not missing cartoon ideas, but the Mercedes Benz and the million from his bank account. Nevertheless, there are things in his life that can not be valued in money, like that Hugh Hefner signature he received for his birthday and immediately had it framed and hanged above the desk.

1. What was your dream last night?

My dream last night was about a beautiful young girl, that almost loved me…

2. Next plans or ideas?

My next plan is to design 6 post cards for a US firm – it is my first commercial work.

3. Your food today?

A homemade gulash!

4. Do you like your place or would you like to live somewhere else?

Of course, I like to live in Vienna, but a life on Bahamas with Nicoleta would be better!

5. What was the huge mistake in your life you (unfortunately) never made?

To have married a rich woman.

6. Who are your neighbors?

No idea.

7. Tell me the shortest joke you know

8. Tell me the biggest prank you did on a friend.

Me and my friend Jan have planned to play a prank to our mutual friend George. Jan was supposed to stay in a bush, up in a tree and jump at the right time. When we (me and George) were passing that way, Jan jumped from the bush with an axe and started chasing our friend trough the field. I was laughing but poor George literally wet his pants. We were only 12 years old… But, since that day, George never spoke to me again. Unfortunately, Jan died at age 17 on his motorbike…

9. How to ruin your vacation?

I did not have a vacation in 25 years.

10. In 1977 NASA has sent orbiters Voyager 1 and 2 into space which will never stop to fly through the universe by gravity. They contain the Voyager Golden Records with many testimonials of the whole mankind, greetings in 55 languages introduced by US president Jimmy Carter (“This is a present from a small, distant world, a token of our sounds, our science, our images, our music, our thoughts and our feelings….”). The Golden Records with a lifespan of 500 million years at least are including drawings of a naked man and woman, detailed genitalia, many scientific graphics, sounds of planet earth and music by Bach, Beethoven, Mozart – and Chuck Berry:

Maybe aliens out there will be shocked in some million years! But in case such a NASA mission will be replayed: which (1) of your artworks should join it?
